not quite as much as yer ISP though, seemingly.
:
: You can bet that I won't let this ISP off the hook here in
: explaining this abuse notice in terms of logic or diligence.
:
: They will need to show veracity of the charters' convention
: authority for whatever source they choose to use.

they'll have a huge job doing that since they're quoting an FAQ, not a
charter.
you should also persuade them to complain to the netKKKop's ISP for
sending fraudulent and unfounded abuse reports and to give you a year's
free access to compensate for your stress and inconvenience.
:
: You are telling me that there is no authoritative clearing house for
: group charters as such?

precisely. at least not in the alt.* hierarchy.

: Isn't there a central, 'physical'
: fileserver somewhere for any given group? A machine that someone has
: to sponsor and host and 'pay' for; even assuming these tasks are
: contracted out to agents?

ftp://ftp.isc.org/pub/usenet/control...p-name-here.gz
any newgroup control message is stored there automagically once it is
sent.
the only charter that counts is the first one.

I get it.

This is the closest thing this group has to a 'charter'
and because it's an 'alt.*' forum it's pretty much at the mercy of
entropy as to whether it survives or not, based on traffic and
content; and a general consensus of those in the control hierarchy
who have the power to delete such things as these gzips that (I'm
guessing here) form a 'root thread' of sorts for the newsgroups..

So: William Tell; did I hit the apple?
