They are being punished for their arrogance, yet they are not capable
of realizing it and mending their heathen ways. Islam is a failed religion because, at it's very roots, is a belief that by combining war and religion Islam would be able to take over the world. IN THEIR ARROGANCE, Muslims fail to realize education, population control, and civilized behavior must be part of the mix if any religion is to be successful. God is good! Islam is a Satanic religion. Recall the "Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdee? Islamic clerics issued 'fatwahs' on this author because they feared the truth. To Hell with every last Muslim who agrees in death to everyone who does not embrace their Satanic faith. CN "Lady Pilot" wrote in message news:yU8Cd.32285$F25.7176@okepread07... Will you get off the whole religion thing here??? These are PEOPLE...it
doesn't matter if they worship salamanders....and if one group refuses, there are 5 million others that won;t so move on down the line...trolling religion in the wake of a disaster like this just shows the sheer bottom that you feed on... Umm, does that mean they can't eat salamanders? ...trolling religion in the wake of a disaster like this just shows the sheer bottom that you feed on... Yep. Unfortunately, religion is not a force for good in most people's lives, though. It's a way of feeling smugly superior to all others ("you're going to Hell and I'm not, nyah nyah"), a way of justifying their prejudices, and a rationalization for cruelty & robbery. Whatever slight positive effect on morality religion might have is due to fear of punishment, which IMHO is not really anything to brag about. If you think I'm being overly cynical, notice how the same crowd is trying to "prove" that the U.S. is donating more than others as though it were a contest, as though they share in the grace of giving even if they've not donated one penny themselves. Which type of ethical principle is better: 1- To do the right thing(s) because they are right 2- To do the right thing(s), or at least to avoid doing wrong, because one is afraid of being caught & punished ??? I may be kind of old fashioned but it seems to me that 1 is superior. This of course avoids the question of how one determines what is right and wrong, which is a whole 'nuther debate. Churches tend to discourage any attempt to seriously examine either of these questions.... or all questions entirely, which is why the Catholics booted me out ![]() DSK |

You're ex catholic. So is my wife. She left while young, but still remembers the screwed up views. Our church is all about love , giving, sharing, human kindness, etc.. Scotty |

Doug,
In order for your first point to succeed, you ahve to have your second point in place for development of conscience. When young children are being raised, it is necessary that there be consequences for actions...good and bad. Consequences can be equivocated to punishment at times if the infraction is grave. Fear of negative consequence is a healthy thing. It keeps us from becoming sociopathic. "DSK" wrote in message .. .
