Default Where Be Ye

Finally made it to Mobile Bay, AL. Well I'm going to miss the L&A bash up
in Oak Harbor this go round after all. I was given a choice of staying on
or getting off andthought long and hard as the tweenships 'vacation' was
only eight days this time. But there's lots of L&A party's and I have a lot
of friends everywhere they are held so it's something to look forward to in
the near future. Missed spending time in the home area and on the boat
however PT Rigging up home is doing a great job of managing the boat
refit/upgrade and every day of work gets me that much closer and makes up
for all that lost time so I opted to keep at it.

Ship is rising even as we speak in a floating drydock. We expect to be done
and on the way again in a few/several/some/???weeks time. I've seen this
floating drydock business before but never been on one while ithappens. The
close attention to weights, centersof gravity and balance would delight all
you math-amatoids. We give them our figures, they adjust the dock to suit
or as close as possible. They sink the dock and we give them our updated
weight/balance/ballast figures and they advise us one what changes to make
in our ballast tanks. Then the dock comes up and if all goes wel . . . . .
.. ..l we'll see how it goes.

On the home front the new boat project leaped forward again with the newly
added fuel and water tanks installed. Now they are back to finishing off a
few things above decks and the new sails come next in August/September.
We're looking at some design suggestions for the stern rail/arch system. The
big thing was making sure it either met cross-country hauling
specifications or had some way of being lowered for trucking purposes. The
second ongoing discussion is on which prop to use. I'm leaning toward the
kind that has the four big Mickey Mouse ear style of blades with each blade
rotating rather than all of them folding parallel to the shaft. Any
suggestions or comments?

New article for L&A is in the final stages. That makes one published, two
accepted and two more in the works. A good way to spend the spare time.

Next stop? Who knows? There's time enough in my schedule for two more of
these jobs. Before you know it will be next Spring, the boat will be done
and the next adventure will start. I'll look forward to stopping byenroute,
starting with Katy of course!

Cheers and fairwinds!

Michael

Work in Dahlgren (Big guns, black helo's), boat's near Urbanna.

Urbanna is beautiful but pricey. Have you looked into keeping the boat
at Reedville or maybe Ingram Bay? Of course there are some very capable
boat yards in Urbanna too.

We've sailed all around that area, the Rappahannock is one of our
favorites. Except for the traffic going in and out of Deltaville... boat
& car both...

Welcome John! I like your new (USED) boat. It's a beauty

Thanks, I enjoy the "on topic" and "off topic" post here. There is something
about sailors. They are removed from the rest of the mere humans; in an odd
unexplainable (but good) way. You said his is like a bar! Cooooool!
Bartender, a round for everyone and put it on my tab........ Make mine a

Norm,

Don't feel bad about not understanding Jon. Most of the Group doesn't
understand him. He is like backgroud music, just there.

Did you here about the war between the Texans and the Coonasses on the
Sabine river?

Yes I did. I lead the Texans to victory. What happened was the Coonasses
were throwing handgrenades across the river at us and us Texans were pulling
the pins and throwing them back. ;-)

Over our way we heard they were tossing Dynamite and you guys were
lighting it and throwing it back..But I will take your word for it.
