Subject: What a USCG Master's license is good for?
From: "Simple Simon" Date: 11/07/2003 16:52 Pacific Standard Time Message-id: "Joe" wrote in message . com... Joe USMM Officer Got you beat! S.Simon USCG Master ROFL I'll give you credit for trying. He's saying USMM officer .... that means he could possibly hold any one of a number of licenses that are so far above you in the heirachy. Give it up, Neal, you've been caught out as a trolling phony (self admitted class). Shen |

I don't know about your license but mine says the following
in nice big letters: UNITED STATES COAST GUARD LICENSE TO U.S. MERCHANT MARINE OFFICER This is to certify that *real name* having been duly examined and found competent by the undersigned is licensed to serve as MASTER OF STEAM OR MOTOR VESSELS OF NOT MORE THAN 25 GROSS TONS UPON NEAR COASTAL WATERS; ALSO, OPERATOR OF UNINSPECTED PASSENGER VESSELS AS DEFINED IN 46 U.S.C. 2101 (42) UPON NEAR COASTAL WATERS NOT TO EXCEED 100 MILES OFFSHORE. S.Simon - once again having to explain things to a so-called higher up licensee. "Joe" wrote in message om... "Simple Simon" wrote in message ... "Joe" wrote in message om... G So, once again to explain to Neal, you don't have him beat, he has
you beat. Also, words on a license are one thing, and what those words mean to those of us who "are", are another .... Do you have a MMD (Z-card)? If not, many would not consider you a USMM officer, no matter what the license says.... Try to understand, Neal, what the USCG says, is not the final word within the industry, it's just the governmental, beauracratic take, on the issue, for the purpose of licensing. If you really do have a 25 ton license, we give you credit for getting it. However, if all you have done is get the license and never used it (which appears to be the case), then, to those of us who "are", you have simply spent some minimal time and taken a minor test, which proved only that you could pass the test (talk the talk) not that you could do the job (walk the walk). Try to understand, Neal, there are many "professional" mariners out there, be they 6-pac or unlimited Masters, whose life, profession, etc., revolves around being on the water..... a license, does NOT make you a professional, it just makes you a license holder ..... and THAT, Neal, is ALL you have proven, to us, to be.. otn If you don't have the basic intelligence, needed to understand this concept, then you probably don't have the basic intelligence to understand what has been said, above.
