Jax, look, I'm not going to get in a ****ing match with you. I put a link
in my post to save everyone a lot of time and effort. The price is quickly available by clicking once with your mouse. If that makes me a self-centered sumbitch you are free to decide, and so is everyone else--like RB, who was willing to click on the link. You are also free to evaluate Westsails any way you choose, but the price of the boats is determined by what people are willing to pay for them, not your arrogant, self-righteous, arbitrary prattlings--which are far out of line with real transactions. If you have nothing but sarcasm and invective to contribute here, I'd be happy if you'd graciously bug off. "JAXAshby" wrote in message ... I stand by my statement. no price given is nearly always an absolute indication the seller thinks he has rare gold. Either that, or he is some self-centered sumbitch who believes the world is required to work for his pleasure. From: "R.W. hey, yo-yo, you don't seem to understand. Your deliberate effort to hide the
price of your boat was noticed by every last person who read your ad. EVERY LAST PERSON. Those who had no interest whatsoever *might* be curious enough to click on your link. Might. Everyone else with even the slightest genune interest figured -- accurately -- that you want well above market value for your boat. Some, just some, of those in the second group clicked on your link. you see, dum-dum, you went out of your way to tell the readers of your ad that you are more important than they are. That is a stupid fricken mistake never made by professionals and seldom made by honest men. you would have been better off, behan, claiming ignorance early on. Instead, you fully confirmed that the omission was deliberate. Jax, look, I'm not going to get in a ****ing match with you. I put a link in my post to save everyone a lot of time and effort. Your deliberate effort to hide the
price of your boat was noticed by every last person who read your ad. EVERY LAST PERSON. Jax, seriously, what are you on about. His website listed the price clearly. It's a Westsail, not a Catalina. How does it matter, so long as the price is clearly listed somewhere, which it is? It's his boat and all prices are "asking" by definition of the seller wants to make a sale. my comment was not that he totally hide the price, but rather that he
deliberately hid it from first glance. This is always some amateur con artist trying to lurk a sucker into paying over market for under market goods. A friend of mine is actively considering the purchase of a Westsail 32. He has asked me to help checked each one he might be interested in, and we have traveled to see two such boats. The first sold from $18.5k, and was worth about $12k (about 20 people saw the boat with no offers at all, the buyer buying sight unseen from 800 miles away). The second went from an asking of $44k to to $37k to $28k in a matter of a short time before selling (it was worth $28k to $31k). From long experience, neither I nor my friend will even consider any boat offered without a price, for such boats are never fairly priced relative to market value. Jax, seriously, what are you on about. His website listed the price clearly. It's a Westsail, not a Catalina. How does it matter, so long as the price is clearly listed somewhere, which it is? Jax, he did not hide his price in any way. Anyone interested would just click
the link, as I did. Really now! Just one click! Meanwhile, a 1979 Westsail 32 sold out of my club last year for 51K. A quick look at yachtworld shows his price is in the ballpark for these boats. Did you read about the boat? Repowered and a ton of custom work. The boats looks nice, nicer than the one I saw last year. Really nice Westsails tend to sell in the 40-50K range as a START. Sure, you may find one cheaper, but not easily. You don't have to buy his boat or even click his website, but he did nothing wrong and the webpage covers all of the details...and the price. Best of luck to your friend. RB ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rec.boats.marketplace is a moderated newsgroup. the point was the guy purposefully avoided the slightest mention of price. he
required that any and all who might even remotely be interested in his boat to work at finding out about it. That is an absolute tip-off the seller believes totally his asking price is above market price and his boat is below. This true of virtually every last product sold. Always true. Bet the ranch on it. btw, if you check the listings you will find damned few westsails are selling these days. the boats just stay listed and stay listed and stay listed. Asking prices of Westsail 32's in SF area (an economically depressed area since the dot bomb) are low $30's and no takers (similar problems with all boats in SF area now). A W-32 can be shipped SF to most anywhere in the country for $5,000 or less. The guy was looking for someone to pay over market, or the guy was hoping against hope his boat actually is over market. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, his failure to show a price upfront clearly shows he hoped to rope someone in. Jax, he did not hide his price in any way.
