Default Where to buy trailer axels ??

THANKS!

People dis this group (rec.boats) so much. I just don't understand why.
It's SO easy to ignore what you want to. And there are SO
many helpful & knowledgeable people here. (And lots of them
are the ones that post political junk and/or that I disagree with
politically.)

I think lots of people like to be unhappy & complain about something.
OK, I'll stop complaining now

And, again, THANKS!

Plenty of people have offered locations. I like www.championtrailers.com
myself.

Question - why do you want drum brakes? They are nothing but a pain in
terms of grease (from the wheel seals leaking), rust, adjustment, heat,
etc... Go w/ the disk brakes and make your life a lot easier.

Ok, so after months of looking for the right person
to weld a custom trailer for us, we're thinking of
doing it ourselves. At first we had plenty to do
with restoring the boat + all the regular summer
projects. But after one trailer welder just blew
us off and after the other keeps moving back the
delivery date and when the off-the-shelf guys
want twice the money for an erector-set looking
thing that we *still* will have to modify....AND
we alerady put insulation & heating in the shop
last winter, so why not use it?

We've got the welder. Dad has built trailers (but
not boat trailers) before. He really didn't want
to tackle this, but now we might.

SO: Anyone have good starting places to look to buy
new trailer axels? We would need two axels. Each
rated at about 3000 lbs. Prefer torsion over
springs and drum brakes over disk. If the torsion
were "drop axel" to give us even more wiggle
room that would be great.

(Yep, I'm gonna start googeling & such, just
wondering if anyone here has info too.)

Thanks,
Gary

I am so impressed with all that you are learning putting that Chris
Craft together. I am sooooo envious. I did learn a few things too this
year,(oil pan leak, power tilt leak, invertor fried my microwave,
replaced broken hatch window,50 amp fuse keeps popping, over charging
batteries, well I could go on....) but you are kicking ass.
congratulations
by the way, I completely agree with you about how great this group is,
even if I can't stand, and can easily ignore, the politics.

Thanks Rich.

Hopefully next year we can take a trip together.

Thanks for the only boating I got to do this year
