Therefore, layoff the golfing terms! I've been waiting for the results of the golf club versus baseball bat distance challenge. I am not a golfer (much) but I *did* learn something about energy equaling mass times velocity squared. My money is not on Tom on this one, mathematician, grunt and athlete aside. Eisboch I think he finally came to his senses, recalculated, and wimped out. Yep, E=MVe2 works every time. |

It's also the reason that young, flexible flyer golfers using light, titanium clubs can easily out-drive a muscle bound jock using his "Big Bertha" driver. Well, that's true. However that assumes that I'm going to be looking for the fences with right handed power. NO NO NO - I'm strictly a finesse hitter. There is more to hitting a round ball with a bat than power - there is wrist speed (the ability to turn over the bat qiuckly) and hitting the ball square in the middle of the barrel. I wouldn't use an aluminum bat either - wood baby. However, in the interest of fairness, there is a great driving range here in Woodstock that is wide open, flat and the use of a baseball bat isn't strictly forbidden (perhaps you can tell I've done this before when one of my kids played high school golf). I also have a video camera. I think we can pull this test off. So, honor system. PS: I'm also counting on the blind hope that perhaps Mr. Duck isn't that great a golfer. :) |
