If you want a super nice, small, free and simple reminder program, this is hard to beat... It's been discontinued for a long time, but available. http://atnotes.free.fr/ Thanks. I decided to go with a calendar/address book/reminder. Right now Click Tray, fairly old freeware, is in the lead. --Vic |

Puts one up in the kitchen, and nobody ever looks at it except in April when somebody notices the calendar says it's January. And so on. Sort of. I have ma, dad, 5 brothers and sisters, 7 kids, 2 grandkids so far. I hate it when I forget their birthdays or anniversaries, because they nearly always remember mine. Isn't that what calendars are for? Why does this have to be automated? I already need to have these dates down somewhere, besides other non-fixed appointments, like dentist, doctor. I figure why plug them into a calendar. Just encourages my wife to buy more calendars. Am I missing something? Nope. If a wall calendar works, it works. --Vic |

I'm not always at my computer. Me either. So I want my calendar/reminder software to be able to print something to hang on the wall by the kitchen refrigerator, my favorite place. That'll remind me to turn on the computer to see what's happening, and if I need some new software. --Vic |

Gifts only now, and I'm starting to do the online checks for those too, when it works out. I'm not always at my computer. Me either. I resisted that at work, since they provided a laptop for off-site. When I go on vacation I take a printed list of phone numbers. Just got my first cell phone and my kid put in most of the numbers I need, but I'll still take the paper with me just in case. When I get my boat there's going to be a lot of thought given to what electronics I'll want. For now I'm keeping it simple. What keeps me away the most is my eyes don't want to read manuals without +200 glasses and good light. I'm actually considering Lasik. But I still haven't scheduled my colonoscopy, so fat chance on that. --Vic |

I use mine all the time - I prefer it to plastic even though it drives some retailers nuts. Screw 'em. I'm also paranoid about online payments. I have a seperate card that I use with a strict hard cash limit of $100 and a credit limit of $1K. If I have to buy something over that limit, I'll go to a store. I'm not always at my computer. My cell phone is acting flakey - I've been thinking abut a Blackberry. |

And the 3M post-it thing did weird things to your screen? Someone here suggested the free "Crawler" desktop notes, so I downloaded it and am trying it. I like it. Seems to work fine and has produced no ill effects on the computer. It claims to be spyware free and my "Spydoctor" program has not detected anything new. I "did" choose to disable the Crawler search engine though because having Yahoo's and Google is enough. http://www.crawler.com/help/default....ns_Help&i=1468 Eisboch That looked interesting, but their web site *suggests* that the data is not stored on your computer. If that's true, you can't back it up. |

I had simply clicked a function. Can't remember what it was. Probably the "Warning! Don't click this Bad Software Button!" And the 3M post-it thing did weird things to your screen? Artifacts all over the place. Didn't like it anyway. I'm a gamer, and modern, demanding games work slick as ice without tinkering. I'm not going looking for drivers/incompatabilities to get a program I don't care about to work correctly. BTDT. --Vic While it's possible to get two items of software in 48 hours, both of which cause problems, it seems a bit odd. I wonder if your computer's got problems. If you liked the 3M program and the weird screen behavior was the ONLY reason you got rid of it, you might want to check to see if you have the latest video drivers for your machine. |
