Per Micheal Artindale:
Is it bad to store a composite kayak outdoors for the winter? I would have it all closed up so no animals get in. I have not decided if I will wrap it in plastic of some sort. I guess there's "winter" and then there's "WINTER".... Here in the near-tropics of SouthEastern Penna, I've been storing my kayaks outside 24-7-365 with no problems. I did have a spec surf ski where the (cosmetic?) fiberglass tape started separating from the seam it was covering after about five years; but my money is on poor surface prep, bad resin, or something like that.... because that was the only problem craft out of at least a half-dozen boats. -- PeteCresswell |
