When you drive through my neighborhood you see that every yard is clean and well kept, the paint is not peeling off the trim, the garage doors all work and look good. There are no paved over front yards, although one or two owners would do it if they could, and houses sell rather quickly with deals that don't fall through at the closing table. None of the properties I own have a deed restriction. All of them sound like your description.... except I can't conceive of a paved yard.... we have real lawns. In the Wash. DC area it is becoming a real problem. Somebody buys the house next door and rents individual rooms and to accomodate all of the cars the front yard is paved over, removing the need for lawn maintenance. One neighboring house that just sold was never even listed. It sold within an hour, the morning it went on the market. How did it go "on the market?" Usually real estate agents delay the posting of the listing trying to get the sale themselves or keeping it with the brokerage family. Apparently, there are many exceptions to your rule! All over the country. Fairfax County passed a law prohibiting that practice. Now the cars get parked in the yard. Saves on mowing the grass to meet the 10" height maximum, don'cha'no. The latest craze for some of the Mexicans moving in is to de-limb and top the oak trees in the front yard, then they're left with a 25 foot stump, which makes a great place to put your dish antenna to pick up the salsa stations. -- John H |

Where's 'Johnny Appleseed' when you need him? Apple trees wouldn't grow high enough for a dish antenna. Did you ask your mom for some boat advice? -- John H |

Where's 'Johnny Appleseed' when you need him? What's that smell emanating from Herring...smells like...racism. Remember when he whined about the black people he was "forced" to teach when he was a sub teacher? Too bad South Africa ended apartheid. If it hadn't, our boy Herring could have moved there. That from the man(?) that posted the following: From: HK Newsgroups: rec.boats Subject: OT: ER Date: Wed, 04 Jul 2007 22:29:13 -0400 snip Gawd, I hope it is President Hillary. No other Democrat will cause so many hard-core Republicans to put bullets through their brains. Delicious. |

No other Democrat will cause so many hard-core Republicans to put bullets through their brains. Delicious. Sorry, but there's nothing racist about that remark. Nor were my comments racist. They were facts. The fact is that the folks doing this in the neighborhood are Mexicans. If they were Jewish Europeans, Indians, WASPs, or simply liars, the facts would still exist. But, thanks for mentioning my name, Harry, it was an honor as usual. I personally don't think you're the scum that some here make you out to be. -- John H |
