I would replace the cotter pin.........SS one will set you back a whole
$0.75

Use waterproof grease.

I am sure there are torque recs but I never bothered...I just put the prop
on and tightened down the nut (replacing the hardware in reverse order of
how I took it off).

Good point..... torque specs in concert with a castellated nut can be
a hair puller if you are patience challenged.

Assemble, torque to specs, and if the cotter pin cannot be passed
through the nut and associated shaft hole, you are going to need to us
a lighter or heaver washer. Loosen, change washers, and try again.
Repeat until successful.....

Get a *factory* maintenance manual and (no better advice has ever been
given) RTFM.

Torque?

Piffle...

Just weld the prop to the spline. No need for cotter pins or
castellated nuts.

Sheesh - how hard can this be? :)
