Default Catalina Island Avalon Trivia

Came across an Avalon Harbor Dept report for each month's activity at
Avalon, Catalina Island (off Southern California).
Moorings in use for the cold wet months: approx. 350 per month.
Moorings in use the the peak months: approx. 2700!
No wonder one of our rec.boats residents likes to go there in the Spring
before it gets busy.

If you've never been out there -- it's really amazing. They have chains that
end up light a giant parking lot -- you are given a spot and you tie up stern &
bow... it's pretty organized & coordinated. Regular runs with a mini-taxi in &
out to the docks -- and a couple of patrols to make sure no one "steals" a spot.
