Catalina Island Avalon Trivia
Came across an Avalon Harbor Dept report for each month's activity at
Avalon, Catalina Island (off Southern California). Moorings in use for the cold wet months: approx. 350 per month. Moorings in use the the peak months: approx. 2700! No wonder one of our rec.boats residents likes to go there in the Spring before it gets busy. |

Catalina Island Avalon Trivia
If you've never been out there -- it's really amazing. They have chains that
end up light a giant parking lot -- you are given a spot and you tie up stern & bow... it's pretty organized & coordinated. Regular runs with a mini-taxi in & out to the docks -- and a couple of patrols to make sure no one "steals" a spot.
