The fact that they are not facts.

Oh well in that case: good luck with your education.
Regards, Len.

Strong return argument Len.

There is nothing to return arguments on Jim

I agree. What you presented are not fact.

Sigh.
Fact: Reagan was accidentally in office when a true leader like
Gorbatsjow entered the circustent.
Fact: It was Gorbatsjow bringing Glasnost and Perestrojka
Fact: It was Gorbatsjow who caused things to happen. Reagan-fans tend
to place the emphasis on Reagan but please, gimme a break Gorbatsjow
was the only one capable of setting things in motion.
Fact: Reagan started serious overspending to please the campaign
supporting industries (Star Wars).
Fact: simultaneously: large tax reduction that would (in his advisors
dreams) would deminish the deficit. "Supply side economics", remember?
AKA Voodoo economics.
Fact: the remaining large deficit still exists and the rich became
richer.
Fact: The rep's won't raise taxes
Fact/deduction: therefore the democrats wil have to raise taxes to
lessen the risk of a totally bankrupted american economy.
Fact: By devaluation of the dollar the whole world pays for the
expensive evangelical risk-game of mr Bush.
(excuse me for adding a biased term in the end of the last sentence)

Regards, Len.

Care to support your claims with some proof?

Just because you say so does not make it fact.

That mirror works both ways, Len. I'm afraid you misunderstand what's
going on over here. It's not about compassion, or lack of it, it's about
the thieving forced redistribution of wealth and real freedoms. We have
had our share of incompetent leadership; Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, etc.,
but we also have had true world leaders like Reagan. Our once great
Democrat party is no more, having been hijacked by radical socialists
and assorted special interests. Suspect you have your share of wackos
too (judging from the Aruba fiasco).

In my post I admmitted up front there are things to be seriously
improved in Europe. Why can't you?

The US saved your collective asses a few year back and many of us find
europeans ungrateful hypocrites today, unwilling to payback. Do you
think lendlease will EVER be repaid? Further, your governments are
engaging in socialist madness, a concept freedom loving Americans find
an abomination. Capitalism works best with controlled responsible
government.

But you asked what was wrong with America. Well, we currently have open
borders. Too many illegal aliens are pouring into the US because it
offers the best economic opportunity in the world and free medical care
for illegals. We also have too many Looney Lefters, but they are held in
check and given no real say in things (however, they do bitch a lot). We
do have a great many more freedoms than you enjoy.

Are you serious in calling Reagan a competent leader? In my view he was accidentally
in office when a true leader like Gorbatsjow entered the circustent. What would or
better could Reagan have achieved without Gorbatsjow bringing Glasnost and
Perestrojka? Furthermore he is the one that started serious overspending to please
the industry (Star Wars). He spent that much that democrats wil have to raise taxes
(cause the reps won't) so their and you children will have a lesser debt.
What is actually wrong with this series of facts? Please stick to this
series....

History will record Reagan as the greatest leader in his time. We ALL
respect Gorby, but unfortunately, history will record his administration
form of communism as failures.

conclusions.

If you had to chose between visiting with Gorby or Len today, which
would you chose?

I don't think I'd argue your characterization. In may have been an
accident of history, but you can't deny, there were some powerful, lasting
changes during his administration. He may not have been the driver, but
he was in the car.

20 years from now, somebody will be saying the same thing about Bush.

If there are, you aren't going to like the changes. After Nixon, the
Republican Party, and conservatism in general, were hurting, badly.
Reagan revitalized the party, and the movement, almost single-handed.
Bush is a disaster for both of those concerns. The only thing positive
for the Republicans, as it stands now, is the opposition is in such
disarray. It's possible for the Democrats to get organized, but it will
be impossible for the Republicans to run from Bush's disastrous legacy.
And, just think, he still has three years to find bottom.

More Leftist lunacy.

Fact: Reagan started serious overspending to please the campaign

That "overspending" brought the Cold War to an end. The Soviet Union
came to the realization that they could no longer to compete. Have you
seen those rusting hulks in their harbors and airports?

Fact: simultaneously: large tax reduction that would (in his advisors

You must be a believer in Keynesian economics. You'd be better served to
read the brilliant works of Milton Friedman, recipient of the 1976 Nobel
Prize for economic science.

AKA Voodoo economics.

You must be a believer in the economics of liberal stagflation.

Fact: the remaining large deficit still exists and the rich became
richer.

The rich always become richer...it's a law of nature, like death and
taxes.

Reagan will be remembered as the sucker who started the decline of
American civilization but allowing himself to be suckered into Voodoo
Economics.

The man had a good personality, a fatherly composure and a feeble mind.
