There is a smaller (18 foot) used Sea Ray for sale across from a
restaurant that I go to, so the other night I took a look at it. It's an outboard model, and I was surprised that the white outboard was not a Johnson, but was of Sea Ray brand (white, with Sea Ray logos). I did not know Sea Ray was ever in the outboard motor business. Are these Sea Ray outboards Mercurys in disguise? (ie. the Brunswick vertical manufacturing arrangement) |

It's a rebadged something. If anyone cares, I answered my own question. The "Sea Ray" branded outboard is a Force outboard motor in disguise Here is a photo of the Force version: http://www.repairmanual.com/images/41/SL1100t.jpg I didn't realize that Sea Ray would offer this type of set-up. I know that they only offer MerCruiser I/Os, so I assumed they would only offer Mercury outboards. |

Sea Ray Mercury Force all part of the same conglomerate -- A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush; A vote for Bush is a vote for Apocalypse. |

Every one of the Sea Ray badged outboards that I've seen and worked on have been Mercury's. Sea Ray even painted some of the Mercruiser sterndrives white and badged them with their logo as well for a spell. Dave I went back this past weekend and looked at the boat again: you're right, it's a Mercury outboard in disguise, not a Force. |
