![]() "Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Poll: Sending troops to Iraq a mistake By Susan Page, USA TODAY WASHINGTON — Most Americans now say that sending U.S. troops to Iraq was a mistake, a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll finds. For the first time, a majority also says that the war there has made the nation *less* safe from terrorism. The survey taken Monday through Wednesday shows a turnaround in views toward the war in less than a month. Continued violence in Iraq and questions about the war's justification apparently are eroding support even as the U.S. moves to turn over sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government next week. (Related: Complete poll results) It is the first time since Vietnam that a majority of Americans has called a major deployment of U.S. forces a mistake. When the war in Iraq began last year, the public by three-to-one said sending troops wasn't a mistake. Just three weeks ago, 58% still held that view. Now, *54%* say it was a mistake. That's the beauty in being a Monday-morning quarterback. Hindsight is always 20/20. Are people too stupid to see that it's not Iraqis we're fighting? Are they too stupid to realize that hard-core Islamic fundamentalists are trying to take over each country one-by-one, obtain nuclear weapons, control the oil in the Middle East, and then crush us economically and militarily? The influx of al Qaeda is a response of desperation. They know that permanent US bases smack-dab in the Middle East would be a direct threat to their plan of converting the World to Islam...or killing those who resisted. |

Rick I guess Rick has proven that the answer to my "are-they-(liberals)-too-stupid" questions...is *yes*. BTW--The Domino Theory (as it applied to Vietnam) was the work of Democrats...Eisenhower and Johnson...and was based upon another Democrat's (Wilson's) idea of "keeping the World safe for Democracy". The difference now? *We* were attacked in *our* country. Get it? |

Thanks for proving my point ... you morons simply cannot exist outside the framework of a "party" or some other deity on which to ride through your miserable existence. Are you incapable of looking at a policy or position on its own merits, or lack thereof, or do you have some unbending need to follow the party line regardless of reality or reason? The concept of the debunked domino theory is the BS you parroted and that is what I slammed you for. I could care less who or what previously used the theory as an excuse for political misadventures, it really doesn't matter. The point may be a bit too fine for those of you who are scared ****less of any position you haven't had fed to you on Rush Limbo but not all of us who despise the cretin in the White House, his policies, and his handlers, are "liberals" or any other codeword you guys depend upon so badly in order to recognize your herd members. Here you are calling liberals stupid and you fail to realize that Eisenhower was a Republican. BTW among of the chief proponents of The Domino Theory, and in particular applying it to Southeast Asia, are two Democrats (deeply under cover, or perhaps 'in the closet' would be an appropriate phrase) named Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon. You may have heard of them. Good work in discrediting the neoconservative right, Comrade Nobby! DSK |

Did you even go to college, feces-for-brains? Do you know what the Liberal Arts are? Probably not. The classical liberal arts included: Grammar, or, in modern terms, learning how to put together the elements of language usage. Rhetoric, or how to speak. Logic, or how to think. Arithmetic, the study of numbers in themselves, the math you need to get rhrough life. Geometry, the study of numbers in space, the numbers that help you think "outside of the box." Music, the study of numbers in time. Astronomy, the study of numbers in time and space. Modern liberal arts include lots more in the areas of arts amd sciences. What college degrees do you hold, Dennis? Do you even have a GED? LOL! I am obviously far more educated and successful in life than you are Krause. You on the other hand portray your life with smoke and mirrors...in other words, lies...such as.... claiming you own a Hatteras and a custom built 36 foot lobster boat....add to that your claims of your wife's 2 doctorate degrees. All lies. Very pathetic. You and basskisser deserve each other. The NG fools. What would this NG do for laughs without you? LOL! |

I can tell by your thought processes, your writing skills, and the fact that you live in the Cleveland area. Yup, them's the convincers. Dennis, I've yet to see one original, clever post from you on any subject. Got a college degree, Dennis? If you had any sort of education, you'd know a little about the liberal arts. The fact that you don't is evidence you are nee kulturny. |

The fact that you don't is evidence you are nee kulturny. So you base one's level of education and success on where they live or the subject matters they bring up in a remote NG such as rec.boats? You obviously need to expand your horizons and think outside of the box.....that is if you are capable of doing so. The world is full of examples to prove you wrong. But one would expect such shallow thinking from you. I can make a bet with you that my net worth is far beyond yours....a bet you would surely pass on (as you did with the $5,000 bet on the lobster boat and your wife's education). I am quite confident that I would win that bet. Doing so, however, would only be a small victory as the real issues in life are one's love of family, credibility, morals and worth to society. You obviously fail on the later 3 counts. I am confident my feelings are shared by most in this NG. As a closing note.....I do find it quite amusing that you often respond to my posts that you don't care what I think, yet such replies are often followed by an additional 10 or so posts from you reflecting your opinion of my thoughts. I am sure this will be yet another example. You are a real hoot Krause. You and basskisser deserve each other. ;-) |
