Based upon your recommendation (and reading),I just ordered a D70 from Hasidic Camera Supply Never heard of Hasidic, but hope you get everything you're supposed to get. I bought mine at Penn Camera, locally. Probably didn't get the best deal around, but the folks are sure helpful. Did you get the kit or just the body? John H On the 'Poco Loco' out of Deale, MD on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay! Ahh. Hasidic Camera Supply is an inside joke, I guess. Virtually all the NYC discount photo stores, along with virtually all the diamond merchants, are owned and operated by Hasids. Most are very, very trustworthy people. I bought my wife's diamond on a "telephone" handshake up there, and when I had it appraised here, it turned out to be even better than represented. I got the kit. The lens interests me, because 70 x 1.5 is 105 mm, and that is my ideal portrait focal length. |

If you don't answer the question in a fashion judged to be sensible by me and perhaps DSK, we'll all interpret it to mean that you are finally admitting that you're wrong. Ready? Please point out 10 examples of "Grecian" being used in the last 100 years to describe Greeks. Poetry is not an option, nor are examples where "Grecian" was used as an affectation. And, your president's example is not allowed in the list of 10. The correct examples would be news sources, especially if one or more of them involved actual persons of Greek origin discussing themselves or their culture. Is that the new 'pass-fail' criteria now? If you and/or DSK don't approve, then no one in the group approves? I don't remember subscribing to that philosophy! Read it again, John. This exercise is NOT based on opinions. It is based on simple numbers. NOYB will not find 10 examples of modern usage of the word "Grecian". If somehow he does, we only need to count them, not judge them. |

Ich. Who the hell would even think about living in such a place...besides in-breeders? Again, proving yourself a dolt. Atlanta is a great place to live. Ever wonder why it is such a metropolis? World class theater, world class restaurants, great music scene, I can be in the mountains in one hour, at the beach in 3.5. Can you? [snip remaining civic boosterism] A place NEVER is "world class" just because the local yokels are saying it is. A place doesn't become world class until people OUTSIDE the area are saying it. NO ONE outside Atlanta is calling it a "world class" anything, except maybe a world class ********. Geez, basskisser, your buddy "****tard" doesn't seem to agree with your assessment of Atlanta. snicker No doubt asslicker thinks going to 'cheetah's' is the equivalent of seeing "cats" and fine dining is eating at "The Varsity" |

OT--why argue over the word "Grecian"?

If you don't answer the question in a fashion judged to be sensible by me and perhaps DSK, we'll all interpret it to mean that you are finally admitting that you're wrong. Ready? Please don't drag me into this any further. I can't believe that NOBBY and some of his whacko pals (or are they all sock puppets?) are actually stupid enough to think the word "Grecian" can be used to denote people in/from Greece; and furthermore they're stupid enough to spend alot of time trying to prove it. The question is, why are you bothering to argue with them? You need to get out more, Doug! Regards Doug King 1) They don't believe it, Doug. It's a game NOYB plays. JohnH used to, but he seems to have lost his touch lately. and... B) I'm stuck in the office, dealing with business, mortgage people, home inspectors, the lawyer, the insurance agent, and to top it all off, the $)!#$ company that shipped my new SeaSense trailer lights to the wrong $)!#$ address. On the spectrum of annoyances, dealing with NOYB is meaningless. It certainly requires very little intellectual effort! |

I don't think "They Still Call Me Bruce" was offered in written format. I'll be sure to check next time I'm at my local library. You know, despite your absolute ignorance, social ineptitude, bad manners and political incorrectness, I'd still go fishing with you I leave all deep thought at the dock...so we'd probably get along just fine. possibly let you examine my toofs. And I'd probably agree to be interviewed (off the record of course) by you for one of your trade magazine articles. Your readers would benefit from my excellent opinion as to why dentists shouldn't be unionized...and why your readers shouldn't be either. Even though you really are an asshole. I'm surprised you picked up on that over the internet. For most people, it takes several face-to-face meeting with me before they ever come to that realization. |

Why don't you try running the term "Oriental" by the next few Asians you meet and see sort of reaction you get? Here's a neat link, Doug. The term "Oriental" rates a big, fat ZERO on the "disparagement scale" of the "Offensiveness Quotient". Look at the definition of "oriental" in ANY on-line dictionary (we know you don't own a printed one). The definition meaning "Asian person" is ALWAYS indicated as offensive. Always. And "Grecian" is always indicated as an adjective *OR* a *NOUN*. No, it isn't. |
