Try putting Mexican dental instruments in your mouth! There are people who go to Mexico for cheap dental care now. I know, because I've seen them here after-the-fact to correct the atrocities committed in their mouths. Lets see Mr High and mighty squeal when he's competing with Mexican dentists. I don't do gold jacket crowns on front teeth...so I won't have many Mexican competitors. However, I do have a wealthy Mexican man and his wife who have done a little over $30,000 in dentistry with me. They would fly in almost weekly from Cancun for their appointments. The wife had already completed nearly that much work in her mouth while in Mexico. Surprisingly, the work was first-rate...but the Mexican dentist's fees were higher than mine! Costa Rica is the hot spot for dental care in the world. First rate, about 10% what the U.S. money hungry dentists are charging. I'd bet that the Costa Rican dentist might have some compassion for their patients well-being, also, not just their patient's money. |

DSK Please point to some (or one) of my cheerleading posts. I don't recall ever 'cheerleading'. I may have pointed out just how fallacious some of the anti-Bush tripe is, but that's not cheerleading. When someone says that American soldiers purposely target innocent women and children and villages for bombing in Iraq, I will present my feelings on the subject. If you call this cheerleading, then I assume that you consider any post which is not 'anti-Bush' a cheerleading post. John H Do you ever have anything other than simple-minded thoughts, John? I will never approach your level of acumen and intellectual integrity, Harry. John H On the 'Poco Loco' out of Deale, MD on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay! |

Costa Rica is the hot spot for dental care in the world. First rate, about 10% what the U.S. money hungry dentists are charging. I used a lab about 3 years ago that outsourced its crowns to Costa Rica. The cost of the crowns were half what other labs charged. The first crown I got back was beautiful...and the fit was perfect. The next one I got from them fit so poorly, I thought they sent me a crown meant for another patient. I sent it back, and got one back that didn't fit at all. The lab apologized and offered to make my next crown at no charge if I'd give them another chance. That time, they lost the crown...and then found it a week later. I went to put it in, and sure enough, it fit like socks on a rooster. When I asked them how the first crown could have been done so well, and the other two were below even the lowest standard of quality, this is what they told me: "25% of our crowns are done in the US...and the other 75% are sent to Costa Rica. The first one was done at our lab in the US." I told 'em I wanted 'em all done in the US, and they told me the rate would be different. Their response: "You're on the pot luck plan if you want the lower fee. Although *some* crowns may be made here, most will go to Costa Rica." That lab went out of business 2 years ago. |

Looked at the prices in Costa Rica? I had a patient tell me that they had heard that they could get an implant done in Costa Rica for $300. Here, it costs $3000. basskisser must be have read the same Reader's Digest article... FWIW--There are several implant manufacturers in the World. The same companies sell the Costa Ricans the same implants that they sell to us. The fees for the implant, retaining screws, healing cap, healing collar, impression post, analog, pre-fab abutment, and the crown total about $800. That doesn't include the doctor time needed to place the implant, uncover the implant after healing, take the crown impression, make the temporary, and seat the crown. There is no way you can get an implant placed for $500 less than the cost of the parts and pieces alone. |
