That would be lovely Bethel Island and environs.

Can I assume that is your vessel at the end of the dock?

Or, were you referring to this lovely specimen?

It appears the roof *could* be tin~

The Delta is indeed lovely this time of year.

New Years Eve at Caliente Isle Yacht Club (www.ciyc.org/pages/1/index.htm),
where SWMBO and I manned the bar for two hours. Nice deal: pour for two hours,
drink free for the rest of the night.

A lot of pictures here, but you aren't wearing a name tag. Identify
yourself! http://www.ciyc.org/pages/6/index.htm

Rang in the new year, then toddled down to M/Y "Shangri-La," and cozy bunk.
About 0300, the heavens opened: the tintinnabulation of the rain on the tin roof
over the slip woke us up, but quite pleasantly. Not quite so pleasant the sound
of said tin roof being ripped off by 40 kt winds!

Still a nice start to the new year--spending it afloat.

This wouldn't be news if it weren't for the RNC. The two ads were
submitted to MoveOn under a contest and MoveOn took no position as to
their validity or worthiness.

Of course, the fact that one of the commercials plainly said
"sponsored by moveon.org" at the end of the ad seems to have slipped
by your blinders. I love it when you guys forget the facts.

Typical.

Whatever the most extreme person on the left says, the rw establishment grabs
hold, raises it aloft, and says "See! This is what *all* liberals think!"

When Pat Robertson makes a statement that God has already called the 2004
election in favor of GWB, he's dismissed as a lovable old kook, not a
spokesman.
When Anne Coulter accuses everyone left of center in the country of "treason",
it's defended as freedom of speech.

The right needs to walk carefully. Very easy to trip over a double standard and
land smack on your nose.

The *fact* is that the ads didn't run in the media.. They were two ads out of a
much larger group of ads that were submitted to moveon.org as proposals to
consider for the upcomiong campaign.

It's no different than some redneck getting on a talk show and saying equally
ridiculous and hateful things about moderates or liberals. Are your radio hosts
liable for every opinion that their callers express on the air?

That's ludicrous. Gould0738 is very reasonable in his posts, and very clearly
explains not only his opinions on the issues, but (what is more important IMHO
and much more rare) the reasons behind his opinions. PLease quote the post where
he accused anybody of being a Nazi.

Your right wing radio stations go out of their way to polarize every

issue.
"You're either with us, or against us. You either worship the ground Bush

on, or you're a friggin' socialist traitor.

We see shades of grey. For instance, if someone doesn't worship Bush, that
doesn't automatically make him/her a socialist traitor. He/she could be a
communist, Marxist, or fundamentalist Islamic traitor, too.

Not at all. There's no reason that everyone needs to agree with me, and it is
better if many do not.

However, "right wing borgs" do indeed exist. They are not making a positive
contribution to social progress, in my stated opinion.

I am very careful not to use the word "NAZI" unless a person has previously
described him or herself as such.

"Fascism", on the other hand, is becoming fairly common. Since that might be
considered a trigger word, let's use this definition from my handy, desk-top
dictionary.

fascism (n) 1. a right-wing system of government characterized by extreme
nationalistic beliefs. 2. an attitude which is extremely intolerant or
right-wing

You only meet a handful of actual Nazis these days. There are huge numbers of
newly minted fascists.

My accusations were leveled directly at the "hate radio jockeys and their
devoted disciples". If you believe that phrase includes "anyone who does not
agree with you" the problem is clearly in your perception, not mine. (Or you
assume that everyone who does not agree with me is listening to hate radio).

Moveon.org vetted these commercials and allowed it to be aired with
the words "sponsored by moveon.org". Lie (it is really not spin when
it comes from someone so intellegent as you) if you want, but they put
it out, sponsored it, approved it, and now they are backing off it...

Lie?

I said the ad did not appear in the media.

Please let me know where the item has appeared as an actual campaign tool, and
I will retract my statement. If you have no knowlegde of the item appearing in
the press, you have no business calling me a liar.

AFAIK, the only place the ad appeared was on the moveon.org website, among a
group of other ads submitted for consideration.
