Actually, if you check the archives of this newsgroup, you'll find that there
*are* those who are saying that, and more.

Joe Parsons

It is also important to
realize that a vast majority of conservatives do not listen to the talking
heads. It is also important to realize that many of the listeners to Rush
Limbaugh et all are liberals and moderates. The "talking heads" are in the
business of generating an audience and pushing hot buttons. It does not
matter if you agree or disagree as long as you listen.

The only people I know who like to parrot the talk radio folks are not
capable of thinking for themselves, and they are on both sides of the
political fence.

I have seen studies that show a substantially higher percent of college

educated people are conservative and a substantially higher percent of

those

who vote democratic have only completed high school or less.

That sure seems logical. The audience for Limbaugh, Savage, etc is made up

of
Phd's?

Must be primarily uneducated Democrats listening to those radio shows,

since,
as you observed, people capable of independent thought don't need to be
spoon-fed a philosophy.

That's true for those with "some college" and "undergrad degrees". The
numbers are more even for those with "graduate degrees". Interestingly,

I
saw a story the other day that said that women are more likely to vote
Democrat as they achieve higher levels of education...and men are more
likely to vote Republican as they achieve higher levels of education.

They
go in the complete opposite direction!?

The only conclusion I could reach from this is that Harry has a vagina.

That speaks to your ability to synthesize information and draw
conclusions.

Way to go.

And your response speaks to your ability to recognize tongue-in-cheek humor.

It wasn't funny, which speaks to your ability to create humor.

Further, it's the only conclusion you were able to draw from what seems
pretty fertile information.

Actually there are a number of self-labelled 'conservatives' who regularly
pollute this newsgroup with exactly such statements.

...It is also important to realize that many of the listeners to Rush

I don't believe that for a second. The only people who listen to Rush Limbaugh
for more than a few moments are people who are either 1- hypnotized by his
retardo-fascist twaddle... or 2- people like me who are occasionally trapped in
a room with a bunch of drooling ditto heads.

For commercial purposes, sure. For political purposes, it maintains or increases
the current atmosphere where news is "fair & balanced" if it panders to the
right wing fantasy dwellers, and character assassination is praised as
campaigning.

Do you really see the world in as the black and white you conveyed in this
message?

Your right wing radio stations go out of their way to polarize every issue.
"You're either with us, or against us. You either worship the ground Bush walks
on, or you're a friggin' socialist traitor. You either express enthusiastic
support for the war in Iraq, or you wish for our servicemen and women to be
killed. You either support tax cuts and acclerated deficit spending or you hope
the economy fails.....etc"

I see the liberal vs. conservative split in the US as an extremely polarized
issue, and am well aware of the side that has done the most to encourage the
hate and distrust. It's a multi-billion dollar a day industry catering to the
largest audience of
listeners to be found anyplace.

I think there's plenty of room in the world for dissenting opinions. They
should be encouraged. So, yes.....whatever the hate radio jockeys and their
devoted disciples represent (black or white) I would hope to be about as
opposite on the spectrum as can be.

Chuck, you need to stay away from Hannity and Limbaugh. You'll have
hair growing in your palms in no time. Now, knock it off. Anyone with
any sense knows better than to let Rush or Sean disrupt their
serenity.

Well, good evening Joseph. It's nice to see your lovely face in the
chat room tonight. We are all laid back now. No arguing, name-calling,
or anything negative. If you should read something negative, it was
undoubtedly posted erroneously.

Hope the weather in San Francisco (Diego, Clemente, Luis Obispo,
Rafael ??) is not too bad!

That would be lovely Bethel Island and environs.

The Delta is indeed lovely this time of year.

New Years Eve at Caliente Isle Yacht Club (www.ciyc.org/pages/1/index.htm),
where SWMBO and I manned the bar for two hours. Nice deal: pour for two hours,
drink free for the rest of the night.

Rang in the new year, then toddled down to M/Y "Shangri-La," and cozy bunk.
About 0300, the heavens opened: the tintinnabulation of the rain on the tin roof
over the slip woke us up, but quite pleasantly. Not quite so pleasant the sound
of said tin roof being ripped off by 40 kt winds!

Still a nice start to the new year--spending it afloat.

Mr. Gould, You are guilty of the exact same thing you are accusing the
right of doing. You assume anyone who does not agree with you of being a
right wing borg, a Nazi and they are the reason for the downfall of America.
