Many schools are closed, trees and limbs are down all over the place and power is out for about 93 percent of the affected areas. Ours was out since about 1 am but had been restored by mid morning. Little Honda generator to the rescue again to keep the refrigerator cold along with running a few lights. I didn't even know it was a named storm until I turned in the TV. It was just wind and rain. I guess anything that was going to get blown away blew away 6 weeks ago. |

It must have intensified as it worked it's way up the coast. It's being referred to as the "Surprise" storm around here, not due to the heavy rains but the 50 mph sustained winds and gusts over 80 mph. One place in New Hampshire recorded a 132 mph gust. Here in the city the gusts hit 72 kph this afternoon with some rain. last night I lashed the 10' long aluminum and plywood platforms to the staging I set up in front of the house re my painting project. Now I just need a few more nice dry days at 10 C or above so I can finish up. Over all we've had a very nice October. |
