Why would you do that? What makes you think non-progressive liberals would automatically side with corporate United Airlines? He's a jerk and he now realizes it's going to be very costly to his airline and stockholders. Yikes! I better use shorter sentences and words. I think you better check your sheepskin. Your degree in English has expired. |

Sometimes I am tempted to call Harry out on his education, jobs and why he seems to feel they make him so special and superior. But I won't. |

He's a jerk and he now realizes it's going to be very costly to his airline and stockholders. It's not unusual to get bumped from a flight. It happens all the time, and across all airlines. United kept increasing the compensation offer to the passengers, but didn't get the volunteers needed. Where things went sideways is when the passenger got belligerent and the (non-United) security guys overreacted. The CEO certainly could have handled it better. He's learning a lesson the hard way. Usually the "bumping" is done in the terminal, before the plane is boarded. I certainly hope there is a huge lawsuit and settlement. I agree with you. (gasp) Back when I did a lot of flying I can only remember one time when a request was made to give up a seat for some kind of compensation *after* all the passengers were seated. I remember many times the request being made in the terminal before boarding. It's up to the airlines to properly manage their business. I can understand occasional over-booking but forcing a paying customer to give up a seat to make room for employees of the airline is wrong. I don't care what the fine print in the ticket agreement says and I suspect neither will a judge if he sues. |

Not exactly true. They offered up to $800 in various vouchers that made the passenger responsible for finding their way to louisville within that price, take it or leave it. They started at $400, then $800. There are some reports that say they offered $1000. Now there's a new video out taken by a woman in the row behind the passenger. It reveals that he was not cooperative with police, and pretty much brought it on himself. The cop then says: 'Well… I have to drag you... You know how this is going to end up happening, right?' Dao then replies: 'You can drag me, I'm not going. I'm staying right here. You'll have to drag me.' The cop then says, 'I'm just telling you, it's going to be a lot harder for you...', before Dao interrupts with: 'Yes I know that, I'd rather go to jail.' 'You'd rather go to jail than just getting off,' the cop replies, while sounded confused at the comment. 'Yes,' Dao is heard saying. Getting bumped sucks, but this guy was looking for a fight. 69 years old. Cop could be charged with aggravated battery of a senior citizen which is a felony. |
