It is not easy to get an FFL...

Certainly a lot easier than a CCW in Md.
You just need a clean record, a place of business and a check.

A friend of mine who runs a nice sporting, tackle, long rifle store and
has for 25 years, said it took nearly nine months for his handgun FFL to
be processed. I think it is a little more difficult than you think, but
maybe not in Florida. Dunno. Are there any real regs in Florida?

This is a FEDERAL license. (so "Florida" was just a troll)
Nobody said it was FAST, just not that HARD.

This is the application. It has not changed much if at all between now
and the one I filled out in 1989. The fees sound higher but I am not
sure.

If Harry could get a Maryland carry permit anyone could get a FFL. Harry
says it was easy peasy to get a carry permit. I don't know if I believe
his story though.

I simply cannot imagine not believing something said by Mr. Krause!

Harry is confusing "easy" with "fast".
There is not much that gets turned around "fast" by the federal
government, no matter how "easy" it is.
If they do turn it around fast, it simply means that they are not
really doing anything substantive and they are going to be wrong a
lot.
You only have to look at tax refunds and medicare payments to see
that. The politicians have forced these things to be done fast but
they end up with fraud rates well over 15% because they do nothing but
write the check.
AKA "pay and chase"

As I have stated here many times, my lawyer asked if I wanted a conceal
carry permit. I signed my name on the forms where told and that was
extent of my involvement in the process. It didn't cost anything more
than the state's processing/permit fee.

Maybe it was easily done because my lawyer's undergraduate degree was in
one of those danged liberal arts.

Doubtful. If that were so he would have talked you out of a concealed
carry permit and charged you $500.

Oh, well, I thought we were discussing the paperwork. Back then, the
prints were done the old fashioned way, with ink. No more.
