If you include them you have to include the Philippines and Guam I think both those were Protectorates not owned by us. |

In fact 11 could have stopped it with a filibuster but they had 77 votes. with 2 abstaining. So what? Senate Dems voted 29-21 for it. Their votes for it cost both Kerry and Clinton the Presidency. Senate Reps voted 48-1 for it. Whats your point? Wait... Got it. The Iraq war was the Democrats doing. Okay. Run with it. It was certainly the fault of the 27 who put them over 50%+1 or even the 11 who made the issue filibuster proof. That is just how the Senate works. It is ironic when you look at the people who voted for it and where they are today. Bush and Cheney seem to be the only ones who took any heat for it. I do find it strange Harry has such a crush on Hillary tho. She is a confirmed neocon who says her favorite book is the bible. Remember "Ray"?( if not, look at the thread title). My point was that Clinton wasn't dumb and avoided invading Iraq and staying there, His wife ... not so much. She is the only one who is relevant today. You have no clue what Bill would have done in 2003 if he was still president but his wife voted for the war, along with the current SoS and the current VP. As was pointed out Bill's SoS supported the war too. Are they all dumb? I think so but that may just be me. Sheesh. It doesn't matter what Bill *might* have done or what Hillary voted for... Bill was smart enough to not invade Iraq and stay there, and Bush-Cheney were not smart enough to avoid invading Iraq and staying there. Just about everything else you fellas have posted on what Clinton did not do and why falls into the Wild Assed Guess or "Might Have" category, including what Bill might have done in 2003, a couple of years after he was out of office. That's history. Why don't you critique the modern day dummy in chief. -- "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them". I think the problems we face in this country have no relationship to a political party. They are mostly economic driven by a growing global economy with the USA facing (for the first time in it's history) a serious decline in decent jobs, a decline in our technical leadership and a decline in our overall global influence. Frustration is rampant. Finger pointing and laying blame. Polarization. Malaise al la Jimmy Carter days. To me, that's the state of the nation. We need real *leadership* and a plan to bring jobs back and re-establish this country as a major world power. To date, neither party has come forth with anything to work towards that goal. |
