At least this one isn't making fan noisess and the hard driver is quiet. I'm gonna hook up the old keyboard and mouse though. This is tough! LOL! Your old desktop may or may not be easily repairable. If it is just the power supply that blew out, you may or may not be able to find a replacement that fits and works properly with the "remains" of what is in the case. And if I recall, you live quite a distance from a city that might have a real computer parts store. If it is a name brand desktop, the vendor might be able to sell you one direct, or perhaps you can find one on eBay. But even if you find a replacement, the blow out might have caused damage to circuits on the motherboard. It happens. You might consider just ordered a new desktop and monitor from someone like HP. You can get a new machine and monitor for under $500, and it will work properly right out of the box. If you hurry, you can do that before all the machines with Win 7 are sold off. Win 8, I am told and have read, is a real P.O.S. Here's one: http://tinyurl.com/kbsp46q Very nice monitors are available from many retailers for $100-#150. -- Rand Paul & Ted Cruz…your 2016 GOP nominees, because ‘Mericans deserve crazy! |
