Sounds like the power supply burned out, not an infrequent thing,
especially if it is an older computer. The good news is that they
are fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. The bad news is that you
will have to figure out what type you need. Between all of our
collective wisdom here, we can probably figure it out. The big
variables are case type and mother board model.

Yeah. gladd I was sitting here wheen it happened. Well, I've got my laptop hooked up so I suppose I'm good to go. it's a win 7 machine. I'm not used to a lappy, but i suppose I need to get used to it. I've sure freed up a lot of dess space though.

Bad thing about this is the keyboard is too flat, print needss enlarged, fingers are too fat to hit the right keys. et c. Maybe I oughta quit griping and geet used to it. LOL!

But I still eed to take the old one and this one to a tech and have stuff (minus the bugs & bacterias!)transfered over.

I think your old one is probably repairable.

Lh deffinately Wayne, but I figure that the lappy will be worth the transition. At least this one isn't making fan noisess and the hard driver is quiet. I'm gonna hook up the old keyboard and mouse though. This is tough! LOL!

Your old desktop may or may not be easily repairable. If it is just the
power supply that blew out, you may or may not be able to find a
replacement that fits and works properly with the "remains" of what is
in the case. And if I recall, you live quite a distance from a city that
might have a real computer parts store. If it is a name brand desktop,
the vendor might be able to sell you one direct, or perhaps you can find
one on eBay.

But even if you find a replacement, the blow out might have caused
damage to circuits on the motherboard. It happens.

You might consider just ordered a new desktop and monitor from someone
like HP. You can get a new machine and monitor for under $500, and it
will work properly right out of the box. If you hurry, you can do that
before all the machines with Win 7 are sold off. Win 8, I am told and
have read, is a real P.O.S.

Here's one:

Very nice monitors are available from many retailers for $100-#150.
