Reagan's primary purpose was to exhaust the Soviet Union financially as
part of his goal of breaking the economic back of the Soviet Union and
bring the Cold War to a conclusion.

Reagan in his lifetime never had a thought that deep. If he believed
that, someone on his staff put the idea in his head. I saw him speak
twice in person and I was sorely disappointed each time. He could
deliver a speech from time to time, but not one that had much in
abstract thinking. I never liked anything about him. On the other hand,
I did like Nixon, Ford, and George H.W. Bush.

Geeze Harry, if you are going to try to spread your Democratic, liberal
party line BS, you should at least try to be a little honest about your
claims. Ever hear of the "Reagan Doctrine"? In Afghanistan, it was a
continuation of a policy initiated by the great liberal Democrat, Jimmy
Carter.

Right, because Ronnie thought it up. Sure he did.

All that is left in the contemporary
Republican-Conservative-Christian-Tea Party is a majority of hate-filled
“basers” that cannot tolerate gays, blacks, latinos, students, women,
and non-Christians, and a small minority of “old-style” Republicans who
pretend to ignore morons like Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin, and the venom
their party leaders spew.

Does it matter who "thought it up"? It became an administration policy
that worked.

Actually, the real credit should go to Jimmy Carter's National Security
Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski

He was also the union steward of the screen actors guild. So he had a
few liberal misconceptions which he corrected as he matured.

SAM DONALDSON: Mr. President, in talking about the continuing recession
tonight, you have blamed mistakes of the past and you have blamed the
congress. Does any of the blame belong to you?

PRESIDENT REAGAN: Yes, because for many years I was a democrat.

LOL!
