This is just to the north of the harbor I normally launch out of. In July,
the ocean is 45' deep and calm at the reef break.

We used to body surf waves twice that high at Barbars Point in Hawaii!
Not twice that height,
more like 6 to 8 feet high.

I heard the north Shore in Hawaii was way to large to surf this week.

We'll have to ask Tim if he did any surfing.

The "professional" surfers are always traveling the world looking for wave events. Even 45
years ago in Hawaii the North Shore would attract lots of surfers when the wind and waves
were up.

===

What you really want is waves without the wind, i.e., large waves that
have traveled from a far away storm.

LOL! No, I didn't do any of that. On the north shore of Kauai they were reporting 25+ ft.r's . And the beach there is a hard slope -the kind that lets the wave slap you right into the place, and if you're lucky it won't drag you out to roll you over again before it swallows you. It's not a good swimming place!

Don't know, John. On both islands Oahu and Kauai, I saw guys with buckets of stuff on the beach. They had some pretty stout rods casting out into the ocean, but I didn't see anybody reeling anything in. I imagine the real fishing is further out.

I suppose you could get a head boat trip and maybe catch something. On one of our Disney cruise I
went out on a fishing trip - a head boat with about 20 people on it. Spent half a day out there, and
only one fish was caught, a little ten-inch something or other. What a waste. But the boat ride was
fun.

I'm surprised disney didn't supply animatronic fish for you.

Have you ever eaten one of those? Remember that little RC Duck I showed you? Can you imagine eating
that?

They catch Blue Trevally off the shore at times. I only caught small fish
when I have shore fished in the Islands.
