I guess he doesn't have enough feathers in his cap to get the $160k. I am not sure this guy has ever actually worked and he is about 40. Yet, while Native Americans have begun to take more control of their tribal economies and have begun to improve situations, poverty on Indian Reservations is still a major issue. The U.S. Census in both 1990 and 2000 indicates that poverty has prevailed on reservations: to this day, Native Americans have the highest poverty and unemployment rates in the United States of America. The poverty rate of Native Americans is 25%.[12]" Incomes of Native Americans tend to be low, and unemployment rates are usually high. For example, the unemployment rate today on the Blackfoot Reservation in Montana is 69%. This is a shocking comparison to the national unemployment rate today, 9.8% (US Bureau of Labor) or even during the worst part of the Great Depression, 25%.[13] According to the 2000 Census, Indians living in Indian country have incomes that are less than half of the general U.S. population.[14] The US Census reports that the median income of households based on a three-year average from 2003- 2005 was $33,627.[12] With a poverty rate of 25%[12], they are right along with the big cities run by Democrats. You would think with the government handing out help and money they could quickly rise up the economic ladder. Some do. You see, you are like a lot of others here, you think once someone is on welfare, etc, that they never get off, no one ever makes good, no one ever rises above it. Typical FOX rhetoric. |

Maybe they should start voting Republican and get their education system fixed. City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level 1. Detroit, MI 32.5% 2. Buffalo, NY 29.9% 3. Cincinnati, OH 27.8% 4. Cleveland, OH 27.0% 5. Miami, FL 26.9% 6. St. Louis, MO 26.8% 7. El Paso, TX 26.4% 8. Milwaukee, WI 26.2% 9. Philadelphia, PA 25.1% 10. Newark, NJ 24.2% John H. -- Hope you're having a great day! Typical narrow mindedness, take ONE statistic and ignore the rest..... Why are these welfare dependent places long term poverty centers? You would think with the government handing out help and money they could quickly rise up the economic ladder. Some do. You see, you are like a lot of others here, you think once someone is on welfare, etc, that they never get off, no one ever makes good, no one ever rises above it. Typical FOX rhetoric. No, typical progressive rhetoric. You are asking someone to give the benefit of the doubt to others, that you will not give me.. You still insisting I don't work, support my family etc, just because I had some issues I am working my way out of. Sounds like you are just another hypocritical progressive (sorry, redundant)... |
