No, John, a lightweight or even a heavyweight alloy does *not* mean
polymer.

Wasn't chemistry part of your liberal arts education?

Good grief.

I didn't think so. Therefore the frame isn't polymer.

Thanks, ESAD, you're such a joy to have around. BTW, I've finished my
taxes, so am free to give you
some help.

Mine were filed weeks ago, John the Racist, and I even got a small
refund via electronic deposit.

What about the defunct Harry Krause and Associates? How did you hide
that debt so the IRS won't make the connection, deadbeat?

Glad to hear you enjoyed the pix. Here's another one that a lot of
people have "liked":

If it opens up with a lot of ad clutter, just right click the picture
and select "view image".

That's a picture of some fair sized surf at a little island called
Sandy Cay in the BVI. I have finally learned how to set up my camera
for really fast shutter speeds which has greatly improved telephoto
shots taken from a moving boat.

Both engine alternators have been performing very well (knocking on
wood), as has the anchor windlass. Both were trouble spots 3 years
ago as I'm sure you remember. There's really nothing like a nice big
Leece-Neville if you want some real amps. It was an interesting
project. We've also acquired another new piece of gear which has
greatly improved our quality of life at anchor:

http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|10391|726675&id=726650

We now have one on each side which has greatly decreased rolling at
anchor. Almost all harbors in the Caribbean are exposed to open
water and swells from one direction or another. These things are
easy to deploy and easy to install. They help a lot to minimize the
motion.

Sounds like the Shooting at the Herring Corral will be a good 'un.

I'm not hoping, Herring. I'm just expecting it. You seem to have a
cavalier attitude towards firearms.

Oh, and since you seem to like syrupy patriotism:

I assume you could translate that, I couldn't. But, I'm sure your ears
are much better than mine - I
couldn't escape the draft, you know.

I didn't escape the draft. Like most young men back then, I wasn't drafted.
And I wasn't so dumb that I would enlist to fight the people of Vietnam or
for that corrupt regime in Saigon.

I know you were too smart to get drafted, enlist, or have anything to do with the military except
work for that general in Vietnam.

Remember telling us about that? Were you over there protesting? Jane Fonda in disguise?

I wasn't "too smart" to get drafted, Herring. I simply wasn't drafted.
Most young men my age were not drafted. You knew that, right? There was
no reason to enlist; I didn't believe the bull**** about Vietnam, and I
had no reason to want to kill the people of Vietnam.

I spent a month as a reporter and then six months later, about six
months in Vietnam, but as a civilian employee of the Department of
Defense. My job had nothing to do with killing anyone for any reason.

Protesting? I find it hard to believe you were actually supporting the war effort. But, if you were
working in Vietnam for some general, that's what you must have been doing. Your help is appreciated.

No, Salmonbreath, I wasn't protesting. My assignment was as part of a
team whose mission was to locate and arrange for safe removal and write
reports.

Your support of the Vietnam war is appreciated.

Unless it's more bull****, of course.

BTW. did you get about three inches of snow last night? I'm concerned about your pair of owls down
by the creek. You reckon they're OK?

We got a skift of snow, just enough to cover the ground this morning,
less than an inch. I just put out some critter food for the neighborhood
foxes, raccoons, possums, groundhogs, deer, squirrels, skunks and, of
course, birds. The birds and squirrels, especially, like
sunflower seed and cracked corn, which we buy from a local feed store.

I was specifically wondering about your owl pair. How are they doing?

Do you think they are polymer or an alloy? Oh, wait, you don't know the
difference.

They were just cheap alloy owls, and they rusted away.

When's the "accidental" shooting at your house scheduled?
