Well, the marina is ready to replace the dock my slip is on with a new one. Not only is it time to get rid of the old one, they are under a mandate to get rid of the old foam flotation with new, encapsulated flotation. So, we've been asked to relocate the boat for a month or so while they perform the work.

They offered one of their "courtesy" slips, which is located right at the ramp. I don't like that as it gets all the traffic, and exposes me to some yahoo hitting the boat or motor while maneuvering on/off their trailer.

So, my dilemma is whether to ask if he'll put it in an empty slot in dry storage or just pull it and store it on the trailer. Specifically, has anyone used dry storage and have you had issues with boat damage?

I think if you use it often it would be easier to have them pull it from
dry storage than yank the trailer to the ramp every time.

This would be a good time to load the boat onto your trailer and drag it

This would be a good time to load the boat onto your trailer and drag it

home for some maintenance. Don't you have a washdown system that needs

Thought about that, but this is a great time to be on the water in SC. Still really nice out!

I stored my old runabout that way in Connecticut for several years
with no problems. A lot depends on the skill of the forklift
operator of course.

Yeah, I would add that it depends on weather or not the marina is equipt
for the tri hull. Do they have the proper rigging to do the move or are
they just gonna' try to use the same set of forks as the monohulls? If
they have rigging for the Pontoon, odds are they have somebody who knows
how to use it... Then it's just a case of how much you trust their
operators. At the same time, really, how much of a chance of damage
would you expect if you go to the slip by the ramp, are you around
bigger boats, how much are you going to use it during the transition...
etc..
