Default Nov 21-22 Suisun Bay (Cal Delta) Stripers - but no sturgeon this trip...

I wonder if sturgeon go after eel chunks or whole eels.

Dale, if you're watching, could you answer that? I've caught lots of catfish in the Potomac on
salted eel chunks, but I'd think sturgeon would have 'better taste'.

CalifBill got it right I think. I've never caught or seen a live
lamprey eel in the delta, but they're likely there. Wish I knew how/
where to catch some it would save a lot of bait money!

Sturgeon do not have good taste when it comes to what they eat. One
was found with a license plate in its belly some years ago. The smell
of an eel is putrid but sturgeon go right after them. Can't say that
I've ever caught a cat fish on eel, and that might say a lot about
eel!

I think we get some small runs of eel in a few of the rivers. I have seen
the bodies after spawning (they die) in the Gualala River. Our tagged
sturgeon have been caught in the Columbia, so they do travel.
