I am on my way to the dealer to get a timing belt for my old Prelude.
That was $1000 a couple years ago(I passed). They are going to do it
for $560 today with a coupon. The parts are almost $200 and it is a
miserable job on a Prelude (there is no wheel well cover to remove,
the strut support is right there). Those boys are hungry.

I haven't been following the auto industry closely lately. I did dump my
Ford stock a couple of months ago. I'm afraid to look to see if that was a
bad decision.

This pretty sums up the sentiment I am hearing about the GM IPO. This is
just another ploy by Obama and his gang to give it to us up the ol' Hershey
Highway.

I feel for them.. I thought I was gonna' have to do a waterpump on my
wifes Eclipse, even a couple guys who do work on the side wanted nothing
to do with it.. and one of them has a full setup in his garage with
lift, parts washers, presses, etc... (not that you need a press for the
job). Turned out it wasn't the pump, thank God...

If you sold it in early July ($8-9) don't look. You will cry. If you
caught the $13-14 on both sides of that dip you are OK. It is trading
in the 12s today. I missed the big jump but I did get some bucks out
of it from $8 to $12 before the July dip. I had a stop loss that
traded on the way down. There was more money to be made but it is hard
to hit bottoms and tops. (AKA time the market). Nobody ever went broke
making a profit tho. Take what you can get.

I did OK on that one but you don't win them all, unfortunately.

Holy schnitt. I had the belt replaced on my 4Runner about a year ago
and it was *only* $329. Got the old belt back, and it had no visible
wear.

Recently replaced the blade drive belt on the Husqvarna lawn tractor
(the model SW Tom says doesn't exist :) )...belt was $35 and putting
it on was a royal pain in the ass.

How narcissistic!

I've explained it 50 times in words you should be able to understand.

LAST time:

40 years ago - you want a automobile

Mines were constructed to mine iron to make steel to process and put into
tools that had to be designed, engineered and built in separate companies so
designers could design a part to assemble to a vehicle that other engineers,
metallurgists, chemists, capital equipment builders, machinery builders,
paint manufacturers, trim designers engineers and assembly people could work
in a plant built by steel makers, engineers, managers, architects and on and
on and on and on -

Today: A foreign company is offered a site at specialty rates (tax
exemptions), are granted foreign trade zone status to avoid tariffs, import
engineering, import management, import styling, import capital machinery,
import tools and dies, import raw materials, put the pieces together with
hicks at half the rate paid 25 years ago, and tell the ignorant masses its
"made in America."

Multiply that scenario by thousands of products and thousands of components
and thousands of companies, and you have "the rich" getting richer and the
ignorant masses taking it in the ass.

It is my observation that the ignorant masses ENJOY taking it in the ass
(with all due respect to Brawny Swank) as long as a criminal politician
makes them "feel" better and promises meals on wheels or $300 to "make it
all better.

Use Vaseline, it's cheaper, and you don't have to vote to gain the thrill.

If you don't grasp the demise of CORE industries in North America for the
demise of the previous middle class, you're not paying attention or both of
your brain cells are on non speaking terms.

You should be ****ED about the demise of the U.S., instead of blaming an
entity that has no connection to you and that you've never met or interacted
with. You also do not have the right or priveledge to change the policies
by the DC parasites that made it possible; you only have the option to not
participate, but like most other "Americans," "somebody else do
somehthing.!" Engage!

Couldn't care less about political crime syndicates, or Darwin - it is
observable that when people do things to hurt themselves, they suffer.
"Americans" do, they suffer, and the more competent will modify their
behavior and survive. That portion makes up about 3% of the former U.S; 97%
will be peasants. It's the individual's choice to decide their direction.
Stop begging for handouts from the root of the problem.

the
past 30 years......political criminals will not, and cannot "help" you.

They're highly regulated societies. Is that what you want Mr.
I-gave-up-on-the-US?

They're capitalists, like the U.S. used to be long ago. When a
(previously)
3rd world ******** like red China blows your doors off, you should notice
something's wrong in your worker's paradise.

They're highly regulated societies, much further from capitalism than we
are. Feel free to whine.

I've explained it 50 times in words you should be able to understand.

LAST time:

40 years ago - you want a automobile

Mines were constructed to mine iron to make steel to process and put into
tools that had to be designed, engineered and built in separate companies
so
designers could design a part to assemble to a vehicle that other
engineers,
metallurgists, chemists, capital equipment builders, machinery builders,
paint manufacturers, trim designers engineers and assembly people could
work
in a plant built by steel makers, engineers, managers, architects and on
and
on and on and on -

Today: A foreign company is offered a site at specialty rates (tax
exemptions), are granted foreign trade zone status to avoid tariffs,
import
engineering, import management, import styling, import capital machinery,
import tools and dies, import raw materials, put the pieces together with
hicks at half the rate paid 25 years ago, and tell the ignorant masses its
"made in America."

Multiply that scenario by thousands of products and thousands of
components
and thousands of companies, and you have "the rich" getting richer and the
ignorant masses taking it in the ass.

If you don't grasp the demise of CORE industries in North America for the
demise of the previous middle class, you're not paying attention or both
of
your brain cells are on non speaking terms.

You should be ****ED about the demise of the U.S., instead of blaming an
entity that has no connection to you and that you've never met or
interacted
with. You also do not have the right or priveledge to change the policies
by the DC parasites that made it possible; you only have the option to not
participate, but like most other "Americans," "somebody else do
somehthing.!" Engage!

Sounds like you're the one who likes taking it up the ass...
