Why have all those cans? Run it almost dry, when you get home siphon
off the last bit of fuel, then go to the gas pump and refill the
tank...

Well, in all fairness I trust you would have thought of it before buying
all those Jerry cans

Of course on a serious note, different worlds... You probably have
several reasons for not letting your tanks get that low that we are not
thinking of..

Taking the boat out with antique gas doesn't sound like a great idea
to me, but it still smells at least half way useable. It might cough
and sputter some. But getting towed in over crap fuel and/or clogged
fuel filters isn't too apealing

Yup, didn't think of the old gas.. But same thing, he can empty it and
then fill it, that will give him the info he is seeking... After a few
trips he could get a good idea of how much a day on the water is gonna'
cost him easily...
