Why would saying that Catholic, family oriented Hispanics are "mostly
a
warm, friendly people who care about family and community" ever be
construed as racist?
Maybe edging toward paternalistic, but that's all.

Because, if that same statement was made about the the race that
usually hollers out racist, they would holler out racist.
Was mention made of Catholics? I must have missed it.
You aren't being clear. What race "usually hollers out racist" and
what
has it to do with Hispanics or the OP's statement?
I mentioned Catholic, because Hispanics are overwhelmingly Catholic,
and
the church has influence on their family values.
Sorry if mentioning religion offended you. It was not my intent.
You don't know the answer to your first question? Hmmm.
Which OP are you referring to? You mentioned Catholic to get a religious
argument going. You and Plume are hell bent on destroying this
newsgroup, aren't you?

You have a pretty thin skin and not be too bright if you think I could
destroy this newsgroup.

Learn to read, would you.? Show me where I said or thought you could. For
an attorney you are pretty stupid.

It isn't because a liberal said it. If a conservative said something
similar, he/she would be
ostracized for stereotyping.

Eisboch
Sorry, I'm new here. Didn't know that a simple - and in my experience
true - statement is seen through a political prism. In any case, can
you show evidence that what you said it true?
An example of a conservative making a a similar statement and being
called racist, or ostracized for stereotyping?
I can see where that might happen given the radicalization of politics,
but there is no reason for me to think in such a knee-jerk fashion.
All I see is one person's statement and your response to to.

If you're looking for boat, boating, boat-like, related conversation, there
is a little on this NG but it usually deteriorates into political ****ing
contests. Eisboch is not one of the idiot right or left wing radicals.
Probably just tired of blanket Cons bashing just as some Libs are tired of
the same directed towards them.

He may not be a radical, but he buys into the same **** the right wing
sell insofar as playing the victim.

The need to be civil clearly isn't a conservative value. All this
carping is about nothing. Just a bunch of babies who prefer stupid
word groupings like "death tax" and "death panels" to get their little
minds all stirred up.

If Richard was truly MOR, he would buy into that crap.

And you would be wrong, fret breath.

Actually, sales have become brisk lately. Most be the stimulus package at
work, huh?
More likely, it's receipt of income tax returns.

Sold 12 guitars and two amps on Saturday.
Two guitars and some other accessories so far today (which is always the
slowest day).

These are not budget, beginner guitars either. Average is in the $2k to $3k
turf.
Not bad for a little shop started as a hobby.

So, I am not complaining. Carry on with your assumptions,
characterizations and comments
about people that you have never met or know.

Congrats on the Music Shoppe, glad it's going well.

Point is, Richard, that you paint yourself (and have many believers on
the right as a result of doing so) as a non-partisan but your stripes
shine through in the most obvious way.

If a "conservative" would make a comment about a Hispanic, it'd be
along the lines of "illegal, shiftless, lazy, freeloader, scab, etc."

And you count Plume's comment about the Hispanic population being
family-oriented and warm as being equivalently racist.

Is something about the second statement derogatory or do you find
warm, family-oriented people to be offensive?

Racism is defined as:

1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and
capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority
of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

I expect crickets or a punt, so don't feel the need to respond. You
won't disappoint me. Cuz, like you, I really don't give a **** what
you think.

Absolutely incorrect. I do care. I just don't respond well to narrow
minded, ill tempered and mean spirited people who have no tolerance for
points of view other than their own. You seem to have joined the "them
against
us" mindset, regardless of political persuasion.

Discussing issues with people like yourself (who would likely be
characterized as far more of an extremist than I) is pointless.

Hope your business is doing well.
