Well, you could always go to the Halloween book burning held by the
Amazing Grace Baptist Church at Canton, in the Mountains of NC....
rumor is they'll be roasting Smores over the burning books....

Oi!

My wife has an aunt who lives in those North Carolina mountains, not
that far from Canton. I'll have to tease her about that. The aunt seems
immune to religious craziness.

According to a news story on that same church, "Attendees will also set
fire to "Satan's popular books" such as the work of "heretics" including
the Pope, Mother Teresa, Billy Graham and Rick Warren."

Hard to believe that in the United States of 2009, we still have so many
simple-minded religious lunatics...our own versions of Saudi Arabia and
Iran, apparently.

Darwin would have a good time studying them.

Yeah, and all Christians are like these guys... more bigotry and
intolerance from the left here on this group. To bad the southern
democrats never really gave up the Klan...

Probably what it feels like to be a non-radical Muslim. Stereotyping entire
groups by the actions of a few assholes is ignorant.

Do you have some sort of point to make, or are you just blathering
some sort of left/right nonsense?

You paint with a broad bursh, Gene. Why can't others paint with a brush
just as broad.

Maybe you'd like to post the link about the Southern-Democrat-Klan
book burning or do you really want to tackle the conundrum of why all
of those Southern-Democrat-Klansmen get their inspiration from living
in the Bible Belt?

Call US Senator Robert Byrd, Democrat West Virginia, he can tell you
where the Klan rallies are. He was once the top Klansmen in West
Virginia.

What I am saying here is the Christian bashing on this group is coming
from one side of the political fence... I don't see the right, bashing
agnostics or aethiests (sp?)... Sorry I am not as clever as you, but
hopefully you can understand my simple words..

Well, I guess all things are relative, but I've never really
considered West Virginia as being in the South. Seems like the
Wheeling Convention showed which side of the Mason-Dixon line they'd
prefer to be on....

So.... I'll throw you a bone.... David Duke would be a much better
poster child for your point.

David Duke ran as a Repbulican, therefore, he didn't fit your criteria.

Let's look at this:

Bashing is a harsh, gratuitous, prejudicial attack on a person, group
or subject. Literally, bashing is a term meaning to hit or,
colloquially, to assault but when it is used as a suffix, or in
conjunction with a noun indicating the subject being attacked, it is
normally used to imply a sense of uncompromising vehemence and bigotry
about the assailant.

I posted a reference to a well publicized (they're bragging and WANT
everybody to know) book burning. If you see some sort of "harsh,
gratuitous, prejudicial attack" in noting that they could also be
roasting Smores..... I think somebody's skin is incredibly thin....

Be an equal oppourtunity basher, attaker and hater. You always single
out a specific group, fundamental christians, of which I am not a member
to provide full disclosure. If you professed hatred for all
fundementalist sects of all religions I wouldn't have a problem.

In truth, "Christian bashing on this group" is, I believe, more in the
eye of the beholder than in reality. I will concede given your
limitations to "bashing" "on this group" seems to be coming from those
whom you (pejoratively) assign to the "left." That is pretty
contrived, though, isn't it? The reason for this might just be because
those thinner skinned readers can't cite any instances of "agnostics
or atheists" burning Bibles! In fact, I can't find reference to ANY
group burning Bibles except Christians, Satanists, and Muslims!

Odd!

See my comments above.

Having read Gene's rants, I assume that he thinks any fundamentalist,
regardless of religion, is a fool.

What makes you think he thinks poorly of only Christian
fundamentalists? It's really the only kind of fundamentalist we have
to deal with regularly here in the US.

They're all loons as far as I'm concerned.
