Homepagehttp://pamandgene.tranquilrefuge.net/boating/the_boat/my_boat.htm Just to add, I see Harry is on a Glen Beck kick abotu advertisers pulling away from his show, which means they pull away from Fox News. OK, Well, lets see another flip of the coin. My wife an I just canceled our Dish Network subscription. We got tired of paying over$100.00 a month for a boob tube. I mean, they brag about all the "channels" they offer, and if you want something specific you have to take the :"package" just to get the programming you want, like about 20 so called radio channels, countless home shopping network stations, and a bunch of others you couldn't give a rats hind end for. OK fine. So we got Fox News as well as CNBC, CNN, CSPAN, MSNBC, etc. So now we've dropped the whole thing. So if somebody ran a poll and asked if we watched the Glen Beck show, we would say "no". But the poll would not state that we don't watch Olberman, Rachael, Wolf, or Chris either. So therefore, it seems that since we don't watch Beck, then that means his ratings are down, and the advertisers won't want to sell there wares on a show that isn't watched. Why? because they would be told that his ratings are dropping like flies due to lack of viewing! go figgah! |

Why? because they would be told that his ratings are dropping like flies due to lack of viewing! go figgah! I'm not on a "Glenn Beck kick." Beck is the most irresponsible of the TV hosts-political pundits, and by a factor of 10. I don't watch his show, but I do recall several times your good buddy Herring saying he was a fan of Beck's. Well, there's no question the two of them go together like tea and crumpets. It's a good thing to associate Beck and that piece of **** Herring. There's much less manual "polling" done in the old sense of the word on TV viewership. The fact that you no longer have cable is taken into account, and would have no impact on the ratings of cable shows. Advertisers are not dropping Beck because of the number of views he has. They're dropping him because of the totally irresponsible crap he says on the air. |

If you want to get your money's worth from Dish you need to have their so called HD package and a DVR. Their HD movie channels have some great older movies and a fair amount of musical programming. As sort of a bonus we get all of the Sirius music channels and a few others. For another $10/mo we get a second receiver which we use on the boat. |

Besides, once you get used to not having a TV, you really don't seem to miss it. |

In another instance, when somebody has exhausted their unemployment insurance, they are dropped from the statistics. So the headlines read. "Unemployment is Down!" makes sense. |

Ratings for the most part are based upon sets in use, and within that number, sets tuned to particular programs. You're no longer among the "counted" for the cable stations. |

Homepagehttp://pamandgene.tranquilrefuge.net/boating/the_boat/my_boat.htm Yeah, if a republican disagrees with you he is a "reverse Harry'. No names be called, no lies be told, no re-written cut and paste needed, all that is necessary is for one not to goosestep to Al Gore and Rahm Emanual... There you go, defining all liberals into a very narrow catagory. I'm glad I'm not in there. I see liberal thinkers and then I see flaming liberals. There is a HUGE difference! You know, that's a good point. But I wonder if the progression isn't more like: Liberal thinkers - flaming liberals - flaming assholes Not that any of the latter are in rec.boats... -- John H "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." -- Thomas Sowell |

If you're going to talk to Krause, don't leave out the best part of his post, to wit: "... but I do recall several times your good buddy Herring saying he was a fan of Beck's. Well, there's no question the two of them go together like tea and crumpets. It's a good thing to associate Beck and that piece of **** Herring." I don't recall ever saying I was a fan of Beck's, do you? Sounds like more lies to me. Probably why I don't respond to the guy more than once a month. -- John H "Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it." -- Thomas Sowell |
