I have a raymarine auto pilot where the compass either has 'no data' or
will just simply show the wrong data. I understand the reason could be a metalic object near by. So I know where to look, how far from the compass should there be no metalic objects? Does the compass only read in the direction immediatly ahead or is it all around or does it just pick up north, hope someone can help. Mark Heh, the flux gate compass in our boat is located in a locker exactly where it's convenient to stow the outboard or gas grill. Any time I put one of them near it the auto pilot's heading goes screwy. I plan on moving the compass to a different location later this season. Meanwhile I just move the metal objects when I need to use the autopilot (which isn't that often). |
