I've had a Furuno Loran on Lake Mich since '86. Still works great. It'll
surely get you back to your harbor when the weather turns ****ty after that nice sunny morning for years to come. I don't believe there's a date scheduled to turn Loran off yet. That being said, a simple handlheld GPS is really inexpensive these days. GPS repeatable accuracy is proably just as good as Loran these days with SA off and WAAS. "rcgordo" wrote in message ... Buying a boat (1988) after a 5 year hiatis. It's pretty thin on electronics but figure I'll have to replace the loran with GPS anyway and the rest including engines (crusader 350's) are real good. Anybody think Loran is still adquate for sunny day cruising or what comments can you help with. |
