If the LORAN still works and you are on a tight budget - keep it and
use it until it breaks. Then you can spend under $200 to get a GPS
with WAAS. If it ain't broke why (pay to) fix it? I've heard folks
say that LORAN is actually better in terms of "repeatability" - that
is returning to a waypoint that you previously established.

USCG hasn't announced a shut off date that I have seen - just that
they will provide "plenty of notice" before they do. Meanwhile, GPS
prices go down and the features expand.

That being said, a simple handlheld GPS is really inexpensive these days.
GPS repeatable accuracy is proably just as good as Loran these days with SA
off and WAAS.
