Copper foil
I have used copper for 15 years on this boat. A great reception from
east coast USA all the way to Spain , Maderia back to Guyana and all of the Caribbean. But the copper finally disintegrated, so I'm looking for a better way for preserving it. Aluminum flyscreen or even galvanized chicken wire works just as good at 1% of the cost. Just unroll the chicken wire up out of the bilge water along the hull under the waterline and it forms a big capacitor with the seawater outside. Fold it up where the ground cable is connected to it for better conductivity so it can fan out the current..... Don't be too neat! No folds to neatly get it around a corner. RF doesn't flow around corners. |
