Yup, looks like he's staying offshore. And probably making some good
time. Great if you're in a hurry. But you miss some wonderful stuff
on the way. I guess he's in "delivery mode" instead of cruising mode.

Seems to me Skip really likes *sailing*
Not too many restaurant reports from him.
After his initial mishap, the wind has carried him many miles.
I'll bet that sticks in some craws.

Looking at Spot just now, they haven't taken the right turn and are
well out from the coast, well past Cape May and making distance
consistently, so they're pretty much locked in for the next 24 hours.
The DelMarVa shoreline doesn't really offer hidey-holes and the weather
typically comes from the north.

I missed it somewhere. What is this "Spot" thing?

It's a commercial operation that allows others to see where subscribers
have been for the past few hours. Flying Pig's is:

Just

make sure the whole address goes in your browser's address area. I

Nope. Just a blank page with SPOT logo. The SPOT site isn't very helpful.

Try the above. If it doesn't work copy and pasted it all into you browser.
(except the carets which are included to make it one continuous link.

It works for me but poor Skippy must either be motoring or has very light
winds as he seems to be going very slowly. Maybe bucking some Gulf Stream
current.

Looks to me like Skippy might be giving up and heading to port.

Position 48, 49, and 50 shows a turn toward Cape Charles. But, he can't make
it before nightfall so I hope he's familiar with the entrance to Chesapeake
Bay. Perhaps he's shooting for a morning arrival.

From my position in Denmark, just out of curiosity, I tried the link to
SPOT, and I can now see track 50 of the Flying Pig ... no problems.
It seems they have turned to about NW ... from a southerly course - right?

Latitude :
37.0018
Longitude :
-74.3879
Time :
3. oktober 2008 21:55:48 - This is local time Copenhagen ... among others
....

Here in Scandinavia, we have free access to www.gpsgate.com ... similar
service ... you "just" need an internet connection ...

Don't fret, Wilbur. They are just shagging each other to death.

dont know what he's doing; if he's headed in nags head would be a
favorite. in his path and the air station there has good places to
drop the hook. not only that but its sure better than the mud hole.

How about Tom's Cove? I don't have a detailed chart, is it deep enough
there?

Belay that, just downloaded the chart, no where near enough water in there!

Cheers
