service earlier than last year and will cut back on trips. Who wants to

I heard the other day that Al Gore owns some huge house boat that burns
hundreds of
gallons of fuel. Poor Al,, he is such a phoney.

That said.. I am a little on the side of the global warm crowd. But
realize it will be a struggle to
get everything under control.

trawler. Please try to get the heat turned on before we do that. Our
very own Geoff Schultz is doing that trip on his sailboat as we speak.
I'll be very interested in reading his cruise reports.

There are a few stories on the net ,, do search ,, of folks who have done
the
St Lawrence River loop..

I"m assuming when you say loop you mean all the way to the mouth of the
river,
Gaspe? The currents, fog, bad weather can be brutal. Check the posted
trips
on the net.

I've met a few who have done the NY, up Hudson to Canal,, across NY to Great
Lakes,
and later back across Lake Erie, to Lake Ontario to Montreal to canal that
leads to
Vermont and then NY and then the Hudson..

That trip is warmer. hahah

We've already done the Hudson - Lake Ontario - Rideal Canal - Lake
Champlain loop. It's a great trip although not to be repeated with
out present boat - too large for the Rideau and Chambly Canals.

I once went around the Gaspe by car, long time ago as a kid, and it
was foggy. The area has a lot of old down east charm however and I've
always wanted to do the full loop by boat. It's also a good excuse to
go to Prince Edward Island, St Pierre, Miquelon, New Foundland and the
Bras D'or Lakes.

I'm thinking the weather should be half way tolerable as long as we're
back in Maine by early September. Once the night time temperature
starts dipping in the low 40s it's definitely time to head south
again. We manage OK up to that point with our heaters and inverter
powered electric blanket.

Been a great season, though I've had less chance to experience it than
normal. (Friends are keeping me up to date.)
