Default mount vertical propane tanks horizontally??

Looked at a boat last weekend for possible purchase and noticed the owner
had mounted two vertical style propane tanks in a deck box. These were
mounted horizontally though.
Does this work OK? Wouldn't you get liquid running past the regulator?

If there are fork truck type tanks, they can be set up for either
vertical or horizontal installation. (NOT a DIY job)

If they are typical BBQ type tanks, vertical only.

Thanks Lew
I didn't think of the fork truck tanks.
These were aluminum tanks and looked like 20 pounders. I kind of doubt they
are fork truck tanks but maybe its possible?

I guess a follow-up question would be:
Is a surveyor likely to require these to be changed? I assume so and this
would entail some expense.

Who knows?

I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker.
