![]() Alcohol for my pressure (Homestrand) two-burner stove is now about 14 bucks a gallon - what a huge rip-off since it is the same crap they dilute perfectly good gasoline with to make gasohol that sells cheaper than alcohol-free gasoline. So, I fooled the greedy *******s! I now burn gasohol in my alcohol stove. I mix it 50/50 and it not only burns hotter and boils water faster but it will turn way down for simmering without spitting and going out. (Oh, I finally figured out what caused the spitting. It's water in the alcohol that condenses under the dome of the burner and erupts into steam from time to time.) Try it, you'll like it. Saves big bucks. Wilbur Hubbard |

Wilbur Hubbard Far less explosive then gasoline, and if you do a little reading on the home distilling sites you will see that alcohol is considered by them as more dangerous then gasoline. Besides, I did specify "appropriate safety measures" - either an outside mounting for the tanks or a gas tight compartment vented overboard, a fail close solenoid valve at the bottles, only turn the gas on when you actually use it, and a gas sensor. Wait until the Fourth of July and I'll come and watch from a distance. You're probably bend your Pipe-Boom © with the explosion. Might be the only thing left. |
