A dirty sock is more likely to hold grit that will damage your topsides
than a fender without a sock.
I clean mine every winter, or as necessary, with proprietory fender
cleaner which keeps them looking good.
Covering up dirt is not the way to go.



I'm not really covering up dirt. I said they were in bad shape because
they're starting to degrade. No amount of cleaning will do anything useful.
The covers are hosed off when the day is done. They're designed not to
scratch the sides.
