... Fpr those on the YSA - what prices have you experienced to repair and
paint 8-10' of dock rash? This guy turned up yesterday and quoted $250/ft, which is reasoneabl;e for 1 or 2 feet. but seems pricey for 10' What about it guys? I'd do it myself if I wasn't King Midas (the painter) in reverse. -- Molesworth |

Don't know about cost but prevention is the thing. Several boats where I'm at have gone to the thrift store and bought used sweat pants. Cut the legs off and slide the leg down over the bumper. The ankle part prevents them from falling off. Gordon |

I've used the stuff they sell in the boat store pretty successfully (but only for marks here and there). My fenders are in bad shape... very dirty, so I got socks for them... about $20 a pop. Well, I'm going sailing... :-) -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |

Well, I'm going sailing... :-) A dirty sock is more likely to hold grit that will damage your topsides than a fender without a sock. I clean mine every winter, or as necessary, with proprietory fender cleaner which keeps them looking good. Covering up dirt is not the way to go. |

I said they were in bad shape because they're starting to degrade. No amount of cleaning will do anything useful. The covers are hosed off when the day is done. They're designed not to scratch the sides. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
