I'm surprised at Oz, because I thought that he had some taste in these matters. I'm not surprised that Bob is looking at these second rate supercars. It fits his modis operandi. Regards Donal Donal, even my Evo 9 would run rings around the Aston on anything but the M1. Have a look at this purpose built pocket rocket and you will be impressed I'm sure..drive one and you'll be astounded. It might run rings around a DB9 in terms of speed. But, in terms of class??? I knew that Bob wouldn't understand, but I thought that you would. Let's put it this way. Imagine that we both turn up at the casino in Monaco. Which car will get a parking space at the front of the Casino? You know the answer! Your Evo will be directed towards the rear of the building. The Aston will get a space beside the main entrance. Speed isn't everything. Some places still appreciate pure class. Your Evo has power. The DB9 has Power, **Beauty** and **Soul**. If you can ignore the beauty and soul, then an Evo is suitable for you. However, I challenge you to take a test drive in an Aston and not realise that all those other so-called supercars are nothing but heaps of crap. Regards Donal -- |

OzOne of the three twins He needs it badly. Did you see how he wants HIS car in the front of the casino? That's a pretty sad comment. In the states we call enthusiast cars like the Evo "Q cars" which means they are sports cars that draw less attention and have a better chance of (literally) flying under the radar. They are cars for drivers, not sad sacks like Donal who need to be defined by parking spots! Good lord! R |

BTW, Donal...I'm reconsidering the MR version. I still have about a
week to decide. I'm also shifting away from gray and back to red or silver. We may also pick up a new Outlander SUV as Suzanne wants something new for around-town shopping and taking Thomas to the parks & boat. The nav system in the Evo (and outlander) plays DVDs, but goes black if you exceed 5 MPH. A patch is available online to make it so you can watch DVD's while driving...not a great idea, but there if you want it. R. |

I know you can't have a fun "anything." R. |

![]() It might run rings around a DB9 in terms of speed. But, in terms of class??? No, it loses in CLASS too. You just don't get it. Enthusiast drivers want the BEST handling, not the best seat stitching. The DB9 gets casino respect, but as a drivers car it's not near the top of the class. Let's put it this way. Imagine that we both turn up at the casino in Monaco. Which car will get a parking space at the front of the Casino? You know the answer! Your Evo will be directed towards the rear of the building. The Aston will get a space beside the main entrance. Wow. You really need some attention. I'd hate for my car to be used in that way. I just want the most fun driving and top class handling, so I guess the Evo X was a great choice. Speed isn't everything. Some places still appreciate pure class. Only superficial clods think that way...DONAL. Most educated folks now know that labels and skins fall a distant second to actual performance. Cars like the Evo or STI didn't get to be top dogs by offering value, they did it by BEATING other cars, picking off automotive legends one-by-one. Beauty and soul are very personal tastes. If you liked driving and were any good at it then perhaps you'd know why the Evo is already being tested in stock trim against exotics. It usually doesn't win, nor is it expected to. But it does very well, and sometimes better in certain respects...and it has room for REAL back seats! Top Gear called the DB9 rear seats a joke! So again...no thanks. If you can ignore the beauty and soul, and accept a car that offers a better driving experience than the DB9 and can be used in rain and snow, then an Evo is suitable for you. Well said, Donal! R. |

Well said, Donal! R. My wife drives an MX5 (Miata to you Bubbles) It's a fantastic drive and one of the prettiest cars on the road. Nothing like the Evo but great fun...especially in our usually superb weather. OzOne of the three twins I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace. ** Posted from http://www.teranews.com ** |
