I am replacement the incadescent bulbs on my boat with ones that are more green in their energy usage. I have found that the compact flourescents cause too much radio and gps noise and aren't that efficient, so I am looking at replacing everything with LED lighting. A weekday crewmember recommended going to oil lamps for the interior. They do give a nautical "air" but how environmentally sound are they? Thank you, Milton Oil lamps are indeed nautical , but they burn oil, produce soot, and lots of heat. LED lighting is coming of age now and many fixtures can now be purchaced for 12 volt DC systems or 110AC. http://www.ledsforboats.com/ Or if you're handy with a soldering gun, you can make customs systems pretty easy. Here is a good source to find LED's http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/ Joe |
