I am replacement the incadescent bulbs on my boat with ones that are

A weekday crewmember recommended going to oil lamps for the interior.
They do give a nautical "air" but how environmentally sound are they?
Thank you,

Oil lamps are indeed nautical , but they burn oil, produce soot, and
lots of heat.
LED lighting is coming of age now and many fixtures can now be
purchaced for 12 volt DC systems or 110AC.

Or if you're handy with a soldering gun, you can make customs systems
